Welcome to Minnesota Online

Minnesota Online offers thousands of online credit courses and over 200 online degrees, certificate and diploma programs of study from the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities.

Some International Students choose to complete an entire program of study online and without coming to the USA. Other International Students apply to participate in the USA Student and Exchange Visitor Program and travel to the USA to complete a program of study at a college or university campus while also taking some courses online.

Application Checklist for International Students

Our best advice is to start the application process well in advance of when you wish to start the online course or program. To be considered for enrollment you must submit the following:

  1. To begin, contact us for assistance with program and course searches or to discuss your goals and plans.
  2. Review US regulations on how to become a student or exchange visitor
  3. When you have decided on a program, complete and mail to the address provided on the International Student Application Form: (link to MnOnline FAQ #798)
    • A completed International Student Application Form
    • Non-refundable application fee of $20 US dollars
    • A certified secondary school and/or post secondary transcript that has been translated into English by one of the following services:
      • World Educational Services
      • Educational Credential Evaluators, Inc
      • International Education Research Foundation, Inc
      • World Educational Services
    • One of the following documentations of English proficiency:
      • TOEFL (Test of English Foreign Language) Score of 500 or higher (paper) or 173 or higher (computer)
      • Official transcript that shows recent completion of a college-level composition course with a grade of "C" or better from a United States college or university
    • Certification of Finances

Online Tutoring

Minnesota Online provides a broad level of tutoring support to online students. Students can connect to live tutors from any computer that has Internet access through Smarthinking.

Smarthinking is a virtual learning assistance center providing online tutoring 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. An online writing lab is available with e-structors critiquing and returning essays within 24 hours. Students work in real-time with e-structors.

Answers.: There is a bank of over 800 questions with answers. Click on the Frequently Asked Question bank, search for your questions, and the answer will appear.

Ask A Question:Submit a question to our customer support people via email. A response will be sent back to you from the support center within twenty-four hours.

Email: You are always encouraged to email us with any questions or comments at mnscuonline@custhelp.com. A response from the support center will be returned to you as quickly as possible.

Eighty-two hours a week

Web Chat: Using Web Chat is just like Instant Messaging. Someone will immediately respond to your question online.
